Marshall was born in the UK & grew up in the South East of England and on the West Coast of Ireland.

He trained at Drama Centre London on the 3 year acting course from 1993 - 1996, where in his final year he won the first ever Carlton TV/Lawrence Olivier Bursary.

Since graduating Marshall works consistently in film, television and theatre and in 2004 was nominated :-  "Best Actor In A Leading Role" for his role as Sir Hugh de Morville in 'Four Nights In Knaresborough' at the 'Manchester Evening News Awards'
